HONORING OUR PAST, BUILDING OUR FUTURE

We honor our legacy--building a future and celebrating those who have gone before us. In 1895 parishioners, priests and religious lived our story when St. Peter Catholic Church, Newberg was established as a mission.

In those early years, parishioners worshiped in a railroad car “chapel”. In 1907 our first “real” church was a small stone structure built on Main Street. By the 1950’s a larger worship space was needed. In 1956, the parish purchased an unused school building, and, in the 1990’s, due to continued growth in the Newberg-Dundee communities, the church purchased eight acres on our current site--building classrooms, office space and a social hall.

For the past 25 years, parishioners of St. Peter worshiped in a space originally designed as a social hall. The time has come to build a traditional Catholic Church. The Newberg and Dundee communities are growing. So, also, is our parish. Even now, with four Masses every weekend, there are times when we are unable to worship together in the same room.

In 2022 we began raising funds to build our new church. We are doing all we can to reduce costs by building a simple, yet beautiful, Catholic Church. Thus far, we have raised $4.65 million or 80% of the needed funds. St. Peter parish will use the 6,380 square feet that becomes available after construction of our new church to hold classes, sponsor parish and community events and continue our legacy of service to our surrounding communities through St. Peter’s Friday Night Community Dinners and St. Peter’s Linen Closet.
