About Us

For the past 23 years, the parishioners of St. Peter Catholic Church in Newberg, Oregon have been

worshiping in a space originally designed as our Social Hall. We believe the time has come to build

a traditional Catholic Church in Newberg and need your help.

The church building mediates God's presence to us, His plans for us and His love for us. We’ve designed

a simple, yet beautiful, Catholic Church that will enhance our worship experience and deepen our sacramental life.

The church will provide powerful testimony of our faith to friends and neighbors in the broader Newberg - Dundee communities.

St. Peter Catholic Church in Newberg was first established as a mission in 1895. In those early years,

a handful of Catholics worshiped in a railroad car “chapel”. Our first “real” church was a small stone

structure built in 1908.

In 1956, an unused school building was purchased. Two classrooms were used for worship until 1961

when a church was built next to the school. In the 1990’s,  the parish purchased eight acres of land on

Main Street in Newberg We began the process of building a new church on the Main Street property

more than 20 years ago.

Newberg is growing. So, also, is our St. Peter congregation. Even now, with four Masses every

weekend, there are several times a year when we are unable to worship together in the same room.  Our parish

has raised nearly 85% of the amount needed to complete construction.  Your help in completing the project would 

be greatly appreciated!
